Reading Plastic is a high-end machine shop that has been providing precision plastic machining services to clients from coast to coast for decades. We’re well-known for producing parts with tight tolerances for a wide range of industries. With our state-of-the-art CNC machining and expert knowledge of advanced engineering plastics, we can produce your parts with speed and accuracy. And all parts must pass a comprehensive, ISO 9001:2008 compliant quality inspection before shipping.
CNC Plastic Machining Services
- Turning – When it comes to our CNC turning services, we excel in multi-axis lathe work and holding extremely tight tolerances. We use the latest CAD/CAM techniques and software to produce world-class precision-turned parts. Our state-of-the-art equipment includes the Miyano BNA-42S, which offers supercharged efficiency and unmatched precision.
- Sawing and Cutting – Our expertise allows us to cut any plastic, no matter how technical, including PEEK, Halar®, Ultem®, Teflon® (PTFE), and Vespel®. When you rely on us to cut raw sheets, tubes and bars, you won’t have to worry about calibrating your in-house saws to cut advanced plastics. We precision cut your plastic materials to exact size, helping minimize excess material costs, and can process materials up to 128” in length.
- Routing – CNC routers can deliver precise, accurate parts that exactly meet your specifications no matter how complex the design or advanced the material. We’re experts in 3D-contours, radius edges, plunge cuts, patterns and bevels. Our machines use standard milling bits from .010″ to 4.0″ to produce your job as efficiently as possible, and we are also experts at routing with specialty bits for the most advanced engineering plastics. We can also handle oversized specialty parts up to 127″ x 80″ x 9″, and our vacuum-secured routing system turns out hundreds or thousands of identical parts fast.
- Milling – Our computer-driven CNC milling machines are capable of extremely tight tolerances of +/- .001 and surface finishes as smooth as 15Ra. CNC milling can be used with most rigid materials, including metal, but we specialize in milling thermosets and thermoplastics, polymers and advanced engineering materials. While other forms of CNC machining can be used for these materials as well, CNC milling is distinct in the geometries and surface textures it can render. We also perform secondary post-milling operations to save you time and lower your production costs. For example, we can finish through-bores, add threads, mount surfaces and brand parts with hot stamping or silk screening.
